Rhythm Spotlight 6

This weekend was just so crazy

Rhythm Spotlight 6 (Fri 10pm until 2am)

Seeing the ciphers in the beginning gave a preview for what was to come to. The battles we are so good  that words cannot express. I will post videos later. Personally, I had a fun time battling for the first time ever.  Being able to participate in such an event where you can see everyone’s love for dance and Hip Hop was so amazing. In the end, it doesn’t matter that if you didn’t win but if you were able to show your dance to the audience and have fun. Watch the videos and you will see.

Rhythm Spotlight Afterparty

First off, it was too cold but the party was good. People were ciphering while the music played. Personally, I enjoy such parties instead of those where people just drink and talk with little to no proper dancing involved. We partied for about 5 hrs and didn’t end until 6 in the morning(lol, Cassidy Reference). Afterward, we headed to Denny’s for breakfast. Lol, I didn’t get to sleep until 8 that Saturday morning.

Rhythm Spotlight Workshop

Back up at 2pm on Saturday. I had 2 hrs before I had to make to our workshop to take lessons from B-boy Toyz. He taught us more advanced footwork but it didn’t involve movement of the feet as much. We learned  different threads ( arm, leg) and stomach roll. Though the concepts were simple, the advanced part was that he forced us to brainstorm ways to incorporate all the new movements into a new set in less than 5 mins. I like his style because of that. It forces one to play with the moves and make it their own.

After After Party

This party was the essence of a Hip Hop party. It had all 4 elements: dope artwork, Dj Mix tracks, MC ciphers, and dance ciphers. The party ran from 9:30 until 3:30 but we didn’t arrive until 11 because the bus broke down ( the bus driver was a little of it, lol that’s another story for another time). After 6 hrs of crazy ciphers, The founder of RAM Squad and one of our alum had some parting words to share with us. It was very deep and symbolized the unity that we had to accomplish what we have while having fun. After the party ended, my friend and I walked home in 20 mins. Falling asleep at 6:00 am Sunday symbolized another crazy day again.

Overall, it was probably the most fun I will ever have dancing and vibing to the culture of HIP HOP
